Leigh Bettles
Counselling & Psychotherapy
Professional guidance through personal journeys

About Me
Hello, My name is Leigh.
I have been told by clients, I am warm, friendly and easy to talk to.
Many years ago, I started as a volunteer for the Samaritans and Victim support.
My interest in counselling grew and I decided that I wanted to know more...
This lead to me training as a psychodynamic counsellor and offering private sesssions.

I was involved in setting up a counselling service for students and staff at Stamford College. Which gave me good experiences with working with young adults. As the time went on, I felt I wanted more tools to work with.

My training as an Integrative Psychotherapist has given me the tools that I felt I needed and working for an IAPT service (Improving Access to Psychological services) for the NHS for 17 years, has given me lots of experience of dealing with many mental health issues. It has felt a privilege to meet so many people, from different walks of life.

I have a practice in Stilton, Cambridgeshire for face to face meetings, which is easy to get to from the A1 Junction 16. I also offer telephone and online sessions via Microsoft Teams.

I realise that sometimes it is not easy to go for the first session of therapy, so I offer a free 20 minute phone call. Which gives people the chance to talk about any concerns or questions they have about starting sessions. If you want to take up this offer, please contact me and we can arrange a time that's good for you.

What is Counselling
Counselling and Psychotherapy are terms which cover a wide range of talking therapies.

It's different from 'advice giving'. the focus is on helping you to draw from the skills and strengths that you already have, and to decide what you want to do, to going forward.

If You are feeling stuck confused or hopeless. Talking with a therapist is a way to become more aware of how you can deal with what you are going through. We can work together to find answers and give you the support you need.

People have often said they find it helpful to talk to someone who is not connected to the situation and who will actually listen and not tell them what to do. Also they say that it is helpful to see things from a different perspective.

I provide a comfortable, non-judgemental and safe environment for you to explore issues that you are finding difficult.

Many issues can be resolved in short-term work, whilst others may require a longer-term counselling/psychotherapy. We can decide together, what you feel will help you most, according to your needs.

There are more issues that I work with, that I have not included on this list. so please contact me for more information regarding your particular issue.
